It's usually during or directly after I've spent time at the feet of the Lord praying or just waiting on the Lord, that I get words come to me, and in this case with a song titled "Here I am to Serve you Lord" there was obviously a time of reflecting on what our purpose is once we accept the Lord's call and join ourselves through baptism into his life. So as we are called to follow the example of our Lord ...in obeying the Heavenly Father, we are also called to love the Heavenly Father with our heart, mind and soul, and love our neighbour as ourselves. Serving in Truth and Love.
As Bob Dylan was led to write the lyrics for the song "Gotta Serve Somebody" the question is who do we really serve??
This song has many references to what I have understood that we are called to serve the Lord with our life. I hope you enjoy the song (Here I am to Serve you Lord) and I've provided a relevant scripture to consider.
Psalm 100
1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the lands! 2 Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! 3 Know that the Lord is God! It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him, bless his name! 5 For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Through the verses, we lament our hopelessness and doubt while also questioning our purpose and worth in the eyes of the world. Those thoughts are contrasted with the truth that we don't need to worry because we have been invited into a relationship with our Father. We can simultaneously be confident in the Lord – because we don't have to wonder whether He will remain faithful and keep His promises – while also standing in wonder of His presence and His goodness to us.
In 2 Chronicles 20, one of my favorite stories in the Bible, a huge army has amassed to come against the people of God. Every time I sing it, it pumps me up because we know that in anything we might face, our God is bigger! I hope this song reminds people that He is with us and for us. If we stand firm and hold our position, we will see the salvation of the Lord on our behalf!
'Faithful Father' was written out of a need to remember the truth that God will never leave us or forsake us. John 14 1:1-3 says “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” Ultimately, ...this song is a proclamation of the Truth that our God has never left our side, and we can have confidence of this through the fulfilled promise of Jesus.
For me personally, this song has taken on a greater meaning too because it reminds me of the faithfulness of God. Even in my lowest seasons or moments of doubt, the Lord will always be there. This song was birthed from that realization, and I pray it leads believers to the same.

There are so many people out there who do not think God has any love for them and that they aren’t accepted by the Church. My newfound goal is to bring the love of God through music to those who are aware of it and those who are not.
"Come Alive" was birthed during a season of feeling lost. I was fighting to believe the words that I felt God speaking to me. They were all I could hold onto. I needed to know that season would not last forever. I was fighting to believe that God would not leave me in a state of what felt like "death" but would bring me back to life.
'You Are Loved' originated from a conversation I had with God after reading one of Cory Asbury's devotions from his book 'Reckless Love'. In this conversation I had asked God what He truly thought of me and His immediate response was 'you are loved my son'. This phrase became the tagline and overall message of the Chorus which is no matter where you are in life or what you have done, you will always be God's child and He will always love you.
‘New Today’ is probably the most personal song that I’ve ever written. But I’m learning that the more personal my songs are… a lot of times it becomes more personal for you. We were walking through the effects of Hurricane Harvey on our home and also my brother who was in the middle of battling stage four colon cancer. It was in the weakest of moments where I just said,... ‘God, I know your word says that your mercies are made new, but I need You to remind my heart of the truth behind that.’ He did… one day at a time. Maybe you’ve been in a season like me recently, where that darkness just kinda feels like it’s going to hang out there forever. But as soon as the sun breaks the horizon and lights everything up, we’re reminded of the newness of a new day. Hopefully this song will be something that encourages you in that way, and reminds you that God’s mercies are made new TODAY.

We have a choice in how we respond to the arguing and anger that is all around us. The answer to all the pain and hurt in this world is the gospel of Jesus Christ. His love and mercy can heal us. Choosing love and forgiveness can bring us personal peace and can bring more peace to a world in turmoil.
God's plan doesn’t always seem like it makes sense, but who am I to pretend I know how God thinks? We don’t need to have the answers when we can have faith that He does. We just need to be prayerfully ready and willing. He leads, I’ll follow. Let's go!
We've put our own story into a song. We want people to hear this and realize that it's okay to not always know the answers or the destination of the path that you are on.
Songs like "Man of Your Word" are the kinds of songs we need in times like these. The voices and opinions of others aren’t always helpful and can often distract us if we’re not careful. Every now and again we need to be reminded. For us, worshiping has always been about remembrance: remembering what God says about us, our family, our relationships, and every thing else in between. We may not always feel like it’s gonna work out, but His Word tells us that it will. ...
We are constantly reminding ourselves that Jesus is truly a ‘Man of His Word’, and as long as we’re still breathing, He’s still working. We hope this song finds you in a place where you can be reminded that He who promised is faithful to complete and perform everything he has promised to you. It’s awesome to know that with all of these powerful forces of darkness that they all still have to answer to the greatness of one name – the name of Jesus Christ. His word is true. He is always faithful. He is always with us. We don’t have to be afraid! I hope this song encourages you, because we’re living through a pretty difficult time right now.
